Carmel Best studied Law with the University of London and secured an honors law degree in 2000 and further attended at the University of Limerick graduating with an honors master degree in European and Comparative Law in 2003.

Carmel Best studied Law with the University of London and secured an honors law degree in 2000 and further attended at the University of Limerick graduating with an honors master degree in European and Comparative Law in 2003.

Carmel attended the Law Society of Ireland in 2003 and trained as a solicitor in Cork city working mainly in the areas of employment law and civil litigation until she qualified in January 2006. Carmel opened her own practice in Cork in August of that year and quickly established a reputation in employment law, family law and general litigation. Carmel has continued to successfully represent clients and grow the firm since opening. In 2009 Carmel opened a second office in Youghal Co Cork which now also boasts a strong client base in East Cork to include state bodies and enterprise groups.

Carmel also has a keen interest in legal research and has published in the areas of employment law & personal injuries in the Irish Law Times and also is a regular contributor to the Journal of Critical Social Thinking at University College Cork. Carmel has further researched and published in the area of Consitutional & Family Law to include the rights of same sex couples as well as the rights of unmarried fathers in Ireland.
